I never even knew before the Internet that there WERE a lot of us. Oh,
I knew a tiny bit about conlanging, thru encountering a few fictional
languages in a series of books (actually had an appendix with a short
description of three of them), but I think I called my project, Tarni'f,
an "invented language" or maybe "made-up language".
Once I got Internet, a soon ran upon a site about conlangs, I think it
might've been Jeffrey Henning's site, but I'm not too sure. That got me
started on conlanging again, and I invented a few langs before creating
W., which has lasted for quite a while. My first post to the list about
it was on April 30, 1998, which was shortly after it was invented. If
interested, it's in the archives at
http://www.egroups.com/group/conlang/13035.html? - a lot of changes were
made to it, indeed, the next day I posted about it with a much simpler
phonology. I'd forgotten how many vowels I gave it early on - 38 in all
including nasalization and length (14 basic vowels)!
