- My roommate last year, who has one parent from Puerto Rico and the other from some rural area in Northern Spain, pronounced his /a/'s unusually fronted - not quite [&], but not quite [a] either. He sounded vaguely Syrian with that vowel quality. -Stephen (Steg) "P i Q? P oi Q? P au Q?"
