These two sentences illustrate a usage that occasionally gets my boyfriend
and me into agruments.  :)  I grew up in the Bay Area and call it "BART."
When we visited my hometown, he insisted on calling it "the BART."  Makes
me cringe every time -- BART takes no article!

On the other hand, if I'm ever in Dallas, I'm willing to conform to local
standards and say "the DART."  :)
