I think though that Southern Californians append articles to everything
such as "the 101" or "the pacific coast highway". Anyway, yeah you're
right, the way most people in the bay area call it is just "BART" not "The
BART".
I liked Adam walker's story about what would one call a Fresno Area Rapid
Transit :).
If Chicago called their system the Chicago Area Rapid Transit it would
be.. CART :).
