Some silly people were assigning number to letters:
a=6, b=12, c=18, etc.
and coming up with words that have the number 666.
Like:

"New york", "kissinger", "computer"

I wrote a wee script to see just how many words in
/usr/share/dict/words (See! Not totally OT. That file
is in most common linux distros!) add up to 666 using
some linear assignment of numbers to the alphabet.

There's quite a few (1087 actually).

There's some real good ones:
a=3, conservationists, uncontrollability
a=6, ejaculation, scandinavian, somewhere, flatulent, horrors
a=6, indecipherable, insanity, unwelcome, vacuuming, witchcraft
a=9, accursed, jesus, jewish, lucifer, nuts, preacher, gospel
a=18, hex, academia, dies, egghead, flame

But my favourites:

a=18 Nick, a=9 Rout
