Well, Eu Castiuio in Montrei was built in the late 1600's, so it's not
quite mideval. But, it is built on bedrock since the bluff and hill it
sits on is bedrock (and granite) just a few  meters below the soil
surface.

The castle was more of a defense against marauding pirates than angry
villagers :).
