Personally, I don't find the Dutch orthography very strange. On the
contrary it seems rather straighforward to me, even if some di- and
trigraphs are used in Dutch like in no other language, they stay
self-consistent. But it's true that the old orthography was a hell, at
least as much as French orthography!
