Nope, if one counts classes dedicated to teaching (historical) linguistics through Tolkienian languages. When I left UT (before the first movie came out), they had one going, and when I got to Chicago after some fuss they got one started. ("Fuss", because some faculty didn't think it was theoretical enough. Then when it had a relatively huge enrollment of 30 students, it was more difficult to complain.) ========================================================================= Thomas Wier "I find it useful to meet my subjects personally, Dept. of Linguistics because our secret police don't get it right University of Chicago half the time." -- octogenarian Sheikh Zayed of 1010 E. 59th Street Abu Dhabi, to a French reporter.
