In Diom: Ser amilen. you-LOC love-1st-PRES The verb ami- is irregular in that it takes the object in the Locative case. There is an extended metaphor in Diom: Having a relationship with someone is like living in a place. For instance: you don't "fall in love with someone" instead you "move into love with them". This perhaps comes from couples marrying and moving to a new house. It is reflected in the phrase: Ser n'vaevtis les celae. You-LOC within'dwell-3rd-PRES my heart. "My heart dwells with you." which is another way to say "I love you." Notice in these sentences the object is first. In a neutral DIom sentence the verb is usually first. By placing the object first it is emphsized, showing that it is YOU that I love, not anyone else. David Lucas Robert Stokes
