John Vertical (I think) was quoted by Tom Chappell:>> BTW In cities like Galveston Texas and Washington >> D.C., where there are streets named "A Street", "B >> Street", "C Street", and so on, there are even >> "D-and-a-half Street" and "E-and-a-half Street", also. > I sometimes use foreign letters for this purpose, eg. Б = > "A-and-a-half". :)In southeast Florida (Miami-Lauderdale-Boca-Delray at least) they have a wonderfully confusing system: Numbered Avenues run N-S Numbered Streets run E-W So, "corner of 8th and 8th" is easy enough; but "corner of 8th and 4th" or "5th between 8th and 9th" require clarification. If by some chance there's an extra little short street between two Aves. or Strs., they are called variously "Place, Terrace". Within a given city, there is consistency: City A may refer to N-S "Places" between Aves., and E-W "Terraces" between Streets; unfortunately, City B/C/D may opt for just the opposite. And sometimes they also use "Drive, Lane" more or less at random.
