Du calme! du calme! No one is taking anything as as a personal attack. You said in first mail: "It is not discrimination or something it is only for the opposition". I do believe you - and so, I assume, did sally as she talked about "pulling your leg" and Remi put a smiley after "prehistomacho!" What we were trying to point out was that whether you intended it or not - and clearly you did not intend it - the way you proposed to use 'stative' and 'active' would appear to be sexist. We were simply trying to help you avoid the discrimination that you clearly wanted to avoid. [snip]

Yes, indeed they are. On Thursday, December 23, 2004, at 11:47 , # 1 wrote:

I do not think any of us thought you wanted THE logic. But you are right when you say "if someone can do this it would be formidable!" People have been trying to do this since the 17th century at least- starting with George Dalgarno's "Ars Signorum" of 1661 and continuing at least till Fuishiki Okamoto's Babm of 1962. There have almost certainly been more recent attempts. People have been trying to do this for nearly three and half centuries - so do not be disheartened if you don't get it right first time. Enjoy the holiday season and return to this formidable task with, as we say in English, "batteries recharged" :) Ray =============================================== http://home.freeuk.com/ray.brown ray.brown@freeuk.com =============================================== Anything is possible in the fabulous Celtic twilight, which is not so much a twilight of the gods as of the reason."
