No. C-a derives from Vulgar Latin with a Punic
substrate and an Arabic adstrate. There is also heavy
borrowing from Byzantine Greek and some from Sicilian,
Florentine, Venetian, Provencial, Catalan and Norman.
Modern words are often borrowed from "international"
English eg. sanduichi < sandwich or televisiuni <
television or T-xati < T-shirt.
