Pukka, authentic, from German. He meant to say "not very echt".
The "dim sum"/"dim sim" romanization conflict represents the fact that
the second vowel is [@] (though phonemically /a/), and English has no
one way of spelling it. In America, the "u" of "but" is [V], and [V]
and [@] have no phonemic contrast, so "sum" as in what you get from
adding two numbers well represents the original.
