Hmm, Aachen? There are some German dialect that regularly do /g/ -> [j] in certain contexts that I fail to remember now. I'm also not sure, but probably 'Öcher' dialect is one of these. Maybe that's the profane reason? (There are also those that regularly do the reverse /j/ -> [g], BTW. Some people from my home region do this (e.g. [gEts] for /jEtst/ |jetzt|).) **Henrik
