Whereas for me, having bought "Teach Yourself Afrikaans" before I bought "Teach
Yourself Dutch", Dutch always strikes me as old-fashioned, complicated
Afrikaans! ;-)
Though I can imagine that it probably sounds as funny to you as an English-derived
language that conjugated "I is", "you is", "we is", etc. would sound to me. :-)
