A Miapimoquitch story from Dirk Elzinga
Eye Juggler --- findoro içun [fin'doro(w)'iSun]

Coyote saw Cottontail's children playing.
o poya yatikassa anale o tavuni re ipanipanip
[o'pojati'kas:a ?a'naleota'Buni rej"pani'panip]
art. (name) 3s-see-past child-pl-dat art. (name)-gen. REL 3pl-play/redup.

They were taking out their eyes and throwing them up in the air and catching them
in their eye sockets.
senda iravas içunuçni, ifiro-firo vita-vita, ilipat yambit paciçuñi.
['sEnd@i'raBas "iSu'nuSni | i"firo'firo "Bita'Bit@ | i'lipa?'jambi?"patSi'SuJi]
prog. 3pl-remove eye-pl-3poss 3pl-toss/redup up/redup, 3pl-catch by-means hole+eye-3poss.

Coyote wanted to play. He had shiny black eyes.
ende o poya melosa yapanip. ine na, içunuçni iyoñ pambara.
[EndE?o'poj@ me'losaja'panip | i'ne: na / "iSu'nuSni?i'(j)ombam'bara]
and.so .... want-past 3sg-play. 3sg-dat. well, eye-pl-3poss shiny black

He took them out and threw them into the air. They were hanging in a cedar tree.
niç yaravas yafiro vita-vita, mowa cakulappo ri ange titrit.
[niSja'raBas ja'firo "Bita-'Bit@ / mo(w)@ca'kulap:o ri(j)'aNge'titrit]
3pl-acc 3sg-remove 3sg-toss up/redup, but ACCID-hang-just LOC tree (name)

He shook the tree but he couldn't make his eyes fall down.
yaruñaçak ange yu, mowa ta pole yarumek re ipondam içunuçni.
[jaru'JaSak"aNge'ju / mo(w)@ta'poleja'rumEk rej'pondam "iSu'nuSni]
3sg-CAUS-shake tree that, but not able 3sg-cause CONJ 3pl-fall eye-pl-3poss

Cottontail's children laughed and made fun of him. Coyote got angry and chased them
ende anala o tavuni ne ikunda-kundasa ihura-hurasa. o poya yaçumarak yalulusok.
[EndE?a'nalaota'Buni nej"kundakun'das@ / i"xuraxu'ras@ | o'pojaSu'marak jalu'lusok]
and.so child-pl (name)-gen 3sg-dat 3pl.-laugh/redup-past 3pl-mock/redup-past. (name)
INCH-angry 3sg-chase

He couldn't catch them, so he left. He had to make eyes out of pine sap.
ta mowa nin pole yalipat, endeni yacosapo. ende yacayi mepu içunuç [velu] umit ñuña.
[tamo(w)@ nim"boleja'lipat / En'deni ja'tSosapo | EndE ja'tSaj 'mepu(w)i'Sunuç ('Belu
?-)'umi?'JuJ@]
not but 3pl-acc able 3sg-catch, and.then 3sg-go-just. and.so 3sg-have.to make
eye-pl [new] use resin.

That's why Coyote's eyes are yellow now.
sañ ombiyu, içunuç o poyayi tanju içumo.
[saNom'bi(j)u / i'SunuSopo'jaj 'tandZu(w)i'Sumo]
thus because.of.it, eye-pl. (name)-gen now 3pl-yellow.

In my IPA, | indicates a pause or full stop, / is "comma intonation". Also, ' is
primary accent, " secondary. The occasional "(w)/(j)" are barely pronounced
glides following round/front vowels. Note that [f] may also be pronounced [P]
(voiceless bilabial fricative).

New: o -- as personifying article for non-humans and inanimates.
Findoro -- 'juggle' < firo 'toss' with nasal infix and final-syl. redup
//*fi-N-do-do//-- the title in Kash translates more as "Juggling eye(s)" (V+O)
Dirk's "peya" ['p1ja] Coyote > poya, "tapune" ['taBun1] Cottontail > tavun ['taBun]
"quya" ['Nuja] pine sap > (irreg.) ñuña ['JuJa] 'resin'
Note that in speech, when poya is followed by a ya- subject pfx., one of the /ya/
syllables deletes.
