It's not simply anti-scuba-diving vs pro-scuba-diving, or belief vs
non-belief in any sort of aerial pasta creature. It's
scuba-diving-is-a-choice vs scuba-diving-is-ingrained.
Of course, the choice of scuba diving as the stand-in might be seen to
imply support for the former position. :)
