I use FreeMono (along with FreeSans and FreeSerif). Not the prettiest font, but it does the trick. The main problem is that the equals sign looks a lot like a boldface hyphen...a hinting problem, I think. It's fairly complete. <http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/freefont/>
