Not long into my undergrad lx course, I once did an unauthorized assignment
involving a comparison of sandhi rules in Sanskrit and Ajitolujan formalized
in classical Generative Phonology. Because Ajitolujan was a conlang, I got a
(not at all malicious) Pass grade -- the lowest possible short of an outright
fail. It actually deserved an A. I think that now that so many people know of
Klingon, though, the incomprehension nowadays would be much less. Cf. the
