The dictionary-*style/format* is rather non-standard. Its use of parentheses makes it resemble neither good paper-based dictionaries nor good web-based dictionaries. There are two important criteria for the style/format of a dictionary entry: 1) compactness 2) readability In paper-form, 1) always trumps 2), but for a web-based dictionary, 2) ought to be king. As for a good example of readability, see the AHD: http://www.bartleby.com/61/88/D0208800.html Here's OED: http://www.oed.com/tour/step-18-e.html#default A Norwegian dictionary for both bokmål and nynorsk: http://www.dokpro.uio.no/perl/ordboksoek/ordbok.cgi?OPP=ordbok&bokmaal=S%F8k+i+Bokm%E5lsordboka&ordbok=bokmaal&alfabet=n&renset=j (This 'un is closely modelled on the paper-version) Here's my favorite Basque dictionary: http://www1.euskadi.net/morris/dictionary.htm (Not possible to link directly to a word, this is a flaw.) Type "language" in the box next to "Search", hit "Search" to see the format. The county library has a most excellent dictionary of Greenlandic, however I haven't got access to a scanner right now and so can't show you the entries for the suffixes, which are important for many conlangs. t.
