Did you try opening the folder, copying the font in, and double-clicking on
the font?
That does it for me, sometimes. My older IBM lets me install fonts that way,
but this computer is somewhat finicky about what fonts it will and won't
accept. I've never been able to get the tiri'n or tengwar fonts to work, for
instance. :\
