What a difference just between regions of the same country! I've known
teachers and the like who INSIST on sir/ma'am. And as for
telemarketers, if a telemarketer ever called me anything other than Mr.
Taylor or sir, I'd probably hang up on them right then (without even my
usual "I don't buy anything from someone who calls me unsolicited")
