CHAT: Stanford?

Very, *very* quick question: if someone could inform me as to how the
languages/linguistics departments are like at Stanford U. and how open
the profs might be to a random Math Ed person auditing classes (I don't
know if I'll actually be able to take classes), I would be very
appreciative.  I've gotten into the math ed master's/credential program
and will very probably go; the linguistics section of Stanford's
bookstore, if I recall correctly from my one visit, is vastly superior to
that of Cornell U. (I can't say anything about the dept. in general, just
the bookstore), which is a plus; and my sister (a freshman there) will
probably hit me for interlibrary loan (which is apparently allowed grad
students but not undergrads).

Sorry for the chat-only messages lately.  I *have* been working on
conlanging, but the work I've done so far is so small as to not be worth
posting yet.
