I think the ugliness factor has to do with what initial
letter sequences or sounds are frequent or admissible in
ones L1. Initial [N] is of course a no-go in European
languages, but acquaintance with Tibetan has innured me
to it -- not least the fact that my Dharma name is Ngawang.
