AFAIcan remember, I've only seen it in handwriting; mostly that of older
people, though my girlfriend when I lived in Germany wrote them too, and
she's not old at all, she'd maybe be 22 or 23 now, and that was 6 years
ago...and no it wasn't just umlaut written together, rather over
non-umlauted u's...i can't remember for certain but maybe it was only in
diphthongs??
