Then you get things that are contractions of a much larger name.
Los Angeles, aka LA, comes from something like the Place of
Angels and some other things that is long and all in spanish.
But we call it LA? I know many towns in the SW US and northern
Mexico, have a short and long form of their names. Like San
Antonio is like the name of 2-3 towns. Named for a saint
anthony, but sometimes differenciated by the river or some other
feauture near by, like the Brazos river or pecos or like?
How to get such thing in a conlang?
Or maybe why we do Conlangs, so we do not have to worry about
things, like our nice city name being butchers by following
generations?
