Indeed, I'm not sure a sentient dog or cat would be able to easily create bilabial stops with their bipartite upper lip, just as humans with cleft palates have problems with those (http://cpcj.allenpress.com/cpcjonline/?request=get-document&doi=10.1597%2F1545-1569(2002)039%3C0040:LLDAIS%3E2.0.CO%3B2). -- Paul
