Well, there is nothing wrong with that. I have been conlanging for twenty years
now, and I am still full of doubt. After all, we all started as complete
amateurs, and most of us still are. Of course, spending some time on the List
teaches you a lot.
Just use your first language as an opportunity to play around a bit, and to
find out what you like and what you don't. Right now, I simply can't look at my
first language anymore (I am actually redoing it), but yet it was the basis
without which none of my later projects could have emerged.
Don't hesitate to share your language - or whatever you have made. It is always
easier to give feedback on the basis of something concrete, especially if you
take the time to formulate your questions and/or doubts carefully.
