Only from our perspective. I may be wrong, but I think a
west to east Gulf Stream would require the opposite spin
though.

There you go!
It'd only be a matter of whether East is on the left or right
as you face the nearest polar regions. East and west are just
a matter of perspective.
Besides, if we transfer all our septentrional perceptions to
Enzed or Oz, then everything would be reversed as well. If
you have one, turn a globe "upsidedown" sometime and see the
perspective change.
