my opinion is that they are just as cryptic, but those from linux and
linux based programs are more informative if you take the time to figure
out what they mean, for example, a certain windows program popped up a
dialog box that said, "An error has occured.  <name of program> will
terminate."  which was shortly followed by a "kernel32: this program has
performed an illegal operation and will be terminated" thing...
