I think that the "weekly vocab" thing could become a regular feature --
have some writer think up a small list of words with sentences, and
people can submit their translations for publication in small column in
the next issue.

Not a bad idea at all-- but considering how quickly Aidan's weekly thing
(and great fun it is!) gets translated here, and the (apparent) time-lag
involved in the journal, perhaps a suggestion:  Have the exercises in the
journal be more difficult-- say a paragraph, with more complex sentences.
Usually of a Sunday, I try to see what NYTimes editorials or op-ed stuff
might sound like in Kash.  Tain't easy.

Or something I've not yet really tried, beyond a few brief attempts, but it
avoids the temptation to re-lex English:  translate short texts in
well-known languages other than English (e.g. Spanish, French, German or the
ever-popular Dutch-- maybe more exotic langs.,  provided some kind of gloss
is provided-- sort of like the Relays:  No smooth English allowed.)

BTW I thought all of Mathias' ideas were excellent, too.
