Greetings! I'm new to the list and thought I'd briefly introduce
myself. I'm Bob Greenwade, and I live in Corvallis, Oregon.
I'm also fairly new to constructed languages. I did develop an alien
tongue a few years ago, though my notes on that are now lost (or at least
misplaced) and it was long before I'd come across the wonderful guides and
resources to be found on the Internet today.
More recently, I've developed a language which I've dubbed Rav Zarruvo
("our speech," in its own lingo). It originated as just an exercise in
learning the basics, but it developed into something that I find rather
interesting (if not exactly innovative -- I've intentionally avoided
stretching concepts too far, since I'm only just learning), so I'll be
making it the basis for a handful of "daughter tongues" in a fantasy RPG
world I'm developing.
I haven't quite finished the lexicon for Rav Zarruvo yet, but when I do
have a decent layout I'll post it to a section of my website and give you
all a link so you can dissect it -- especially the orthography (which I
suspect needs a *lot* of fixing). :-] At this time I'm mostly mentioning
it so that if I make a comment or ask a question you'll have an idea as to
what the heck I'm referring to. ;-]
I look forward to the interesting experience of being on this list, and
learning a lot about language and linguistics; on most of the lists that I
subscribe to (music and Hero System gaming), I'm one of the better-learned
members, but here I'm a total novice and will probably be saying and asking
a few things that make me look and/or feel like a dunce (though I do take
comfort in the knowledge that everyone gets that in some way at one time or
