Hm. For some reson IML that's true of "real" digging/shoveling implements, but
kids' or toy versions are always _spadar_, regardless of blade shape.

Clearly your parents weren't as cool as mine - I used to play with a
_skyttegravsspade_ (entrenching tool). It didn't have sharpened side edges,
mind.
