Yes, they actually do glide due to their patagium, which is the membrane
of skin between their fore legs and hind legs.
SPeaking of flying critters, did anyone see the Discovery channel show
"The Future is Wild"? (originally on Animal Planet).
They had some very interesting and supposedly plausible future animals,
including a bat with a 4 foot wing span called a death gleaner. Fish that
evovled lungs and learned to fly, and a 5 ton land squid (as well as
monkey like squid). GOod ideas for any con-world.
