SIL's WorldPad and Graphite

Graphite is a technology for rendering complex scripts by reading extra
tables that are added to Windows TrueType fonts, and WorldPad is a basic
word processor that uses this technology. There's even a project to make
a version of Mozilla with Graphite support. They have sample fonts that
illustrate complex features of scripts like Tamil and Burmese. There's
an IPA font that can handle contour tones, stacked diacritics,
diacritics on letters with ascenders and descenders, positioning of the
superimposed tilde diacritic, etc. I started adding some Graphite
features to my OlaeUni font; it takes some getting used to, but it's
pretty powerful once you figure out how it works. I don't think I'll
have any difficulty adapting the Kazvarad or Neesklaaz fonts. You can
even add optional features to fonts, so that for instance you could deal
with ligatures differently in two different languages.
