Why so? Languages can have phonetic phenomena that span words, like,
say, merging a final -a and an initial i- as a diphthong /aj/. I would
imagine that word-initial but phrase-medially geminates would act the
same as word-medially, that is, say, _kasa ttana_ would be pronounced as
if _kasat tana_
