I love that series! I haven't read the newest ones either, and it has been
forever,
because everyone I knew said it was below my age and intellect and I felt
offended and I stopped reading them. :-(
I think I knew the answer, and I would look it up, but I don't have
patience.
If no one else answers I will look it up for you. One thing I remember is
that in
the book where the kingship is doomed, and passes between like nine members
of the royal family, it eventually settles on women.
