The author of that rant is certainly entitled to his/her opinion, but I'd
lend said opinion more credence if I could see this so-called "superior"
language documented. Or maybe it is documented and my cursory scan didn't
reveal the link. Regardless, I could post a blog entry ripping apart any
subject I chose, but if I can't offer something better (as opposed to a
smattering of grab-bag examples), I'm only revealing my own ignorance.
Since I can't see any evidence that this person knows what he or she is
talking about, I find it hard to lend them a sympathetic ear, or even think
too hard on his or her arguments.
Still, this raises an important question: just how could one judge a
conlang? Have you list members confronted this question before? Is such
judgment even worth doing?
Just what are we doing? Literature? Fine arts? Something in between?
Regardless, I bet it'll be a long time before conlanging becomes anywhere
near mainstream :-)
