Conlangers,
I am sending this to Conlang and not elsewhere (private e-mails as was suggested
for politics etc.), I dunno who started this political discussion.
We need a moderator here...
Tim has a good point: No politics on the list!
And Padraic in particular got _so extremely_ angry at _me_ for discussing
politics! But a while later, _he_ is discussing politics - on the list!
If this isn't double standards I dunno what is... Very disappointing. As Tim
said, use private e-mail.
Since some ppl can get away with it and not be criticized like I was:
_My_ opinion: The gov't doesn't own anything (hopefully!), it just keeps it ready
for us when we need it. Gov't is ppl ruling themselves - it should be, anyway.
And (if it's run properly) it's clean and provides services to us citizens. I
like socialism (democratic socialism) because it is designed to put the
citizens in power and implements social programs to help _everyone_, whereas in
_capitalistic_ gov'ts we are ruled by a wealthy elite who doesn't give a damn
about our well-being! Corruption is a great ex. of this!
So if I became world dictator, I'd get all these programs started so no one would
starve or have to worry about affording housing or education or health care; no
one would need to wait for anti-retroviral drugs for AIDS. They would be helped
by a whole network of other ppl helping each other and themselves. We'd be
self-sufficient, and gov't would be clean; the world wuld be ruled by the
citizens, and wars would be over because disputes would be settled peacefully
(hopefully) and there wouldn't be too many because the problems would be
addressed before they got out of hand... Well, at least according to my current
doctrine which I'm sure won't change too much in the future.
Apparently politics can be talked about freely now? (No, a rhetorical question.) Double
standards: noooo!!!!!!! I hate double standards!!!!!!!
