It's an Anglicization of a Southern Paiute original. The <qu> is pronounced in English fashion (from a Southern Paiute labiovelar voiceless stop); there's nothing Spanish about it. The <tch> is to ensure a lax vowel in the final syllable. Interesting that you stress all of the syllables which are stressless! Dirk -- Watch the reply-to!
