That's not been my experience in New England, the only part of the US I've had any familiarity with. It might well be the New Englanders are not typical Murkans - I don't know. But I have heard odd Merkans complain that Starbucks coffee is too strong - but I've never found that. All the Stabucks I've visited have served me very strong coffee - maybe I've just been lucky.
