Heck, if Thorndyke and Barnhardt's Junior Dictionary of the English Language
was good enough for me in my salad days, I can't see why Ogden's isn't
appropriate for your conlang.  Of course, eventually, if the conlang is to
have its own conculture, you'll want original terms for that culture.

Yet another query... who was it presented us not so many years ago with a
list of the most commonly used concepts for a rudimentary language arranged
in a taxonomy?  I'd like to see that website again.

I made my own taxonomy, but it's maniacally overstuffed and needs filling
in.
