Chinook began on the Columbia, spread to the north -- to Victoria
Island.

Dates of origin unknown, but much of the language was
formed after contact with French and English speakers.

Chinook itself was a long existent language at the
mouth of the Columbia. But the Jargon is quite a
different thing.
