Separate characters, though the plural set are characters made up especially
for Taiwanese (actually, I think they foisted "goan" onto another character
with the same pronunciation.). Don't know if writing Taiwanese in characters
has made any progress with regard to standardization (but I doubt it), or if
"n" is related to "-men" (doubt that, too).
