Me, too. I used to know a kid via online chats who was very artistic and
extremely bright... Suddenly he was getting into websites about a music group
called "Death in June", Historical Revisionism, debunking the Holocaust,
ZOG/Jewish Cabal conspiracy theories, and hating Muslims as "Christian
Europe's historical religious enemy," etc. I tried getting him to visit other
websites that have more historical validity and sources and that are not full
of ideological posturing and hormonal derangement.
I pointed out that without the Arabs most of the West would not have
gotten into algebra, chemistry, medicine, ethics, philosophy, the Greek
Classics, etc. ... or even return to the basic hygienic Roman habit of
shaving & bathing. I was not even given a blinkin' chance to even start a
briefing * on the contributions of Jews to world civilization... ( * it would
have been long even if I tried to be brief!)
Long story short... I cut him off harshly when he started saying things
like he was only being "proud" of his "White European heritage." Funny thing
is he knew I was Chinese-Indonesian with some Russian-Jewish traces. Some
people reaaaallly test my tolerance levels...
Moral: the web is _definitely_ not the end-all and be-all of the Fount of
Wisedom. I trust reference books and the public library way more... and that
is also with a grain of salt. I wish there was trustable Google-like
fact-checker bot... something as rigourous as an Orthodox rabbi, vigilant
like a Zen roshi, rabid like a Southern Baptist minister in summer revival
(or rabid like the Southern junkyard canine equivalent).
Until then, I always have John Cowan, Padraic Brown, Roger Milly, Herman
Miller, Dirk Elzinga, Kou, Teoh, Christophe Grandsire, etc. as "fact-check
back-up"... ;)
(I am not even gonna ask pardon for all the allusive puns contained in
my writing style :P~~~~ )

"Those at the top of the social order are apt to preach benevolence and
righteousness to those at the bottom. Yet those at the top have typically
stolen their position from others. They are the greatest thieves, because
they have stolen the greatest amount of land and other property. So words
about benevolence and righteousness are usually the fruit of robbery." -
