Well, speaking for myself, I immediately recognize your name. And it appears to
me that you are already on the list for a while. Why would you assume people
won't recognize you if you are an infrequent poster? For someone who reads
(almost) everything, the name of an infrequent poster should at least ring a
bell. I like the habit of introducing yourself, since it definitely helps the
bell ringing, and gives the feeling that you actually know a person.

Personally, I just cannot follow a discussion and not participate in it :)

Then I don't know what lists you are on, because on this list I have never seen
such a reaction. It's pretty impolite, anyway.
