I did the same, until I spent three hours in a Hong Kong pub with Guiness and chips in front of me. I know the difference now.

Yeah, jelly is clear (made with juice only). Jam is almost like preserves (made with whole fruit, or at least bits and chunks thereof).

Used interchangably (at least in my idiolect): sidewalk/pavement, fender/bumper Brit/US difference recognized: trunk/boot not sure what you mean by fanny - doesn't it mean rear end / buttocks? and rubber (and fag) because they're so funny. Seen em in a zillion comedies. Aidan
