Well of course IE must be related to other languages; the question is,
is it recent enough for comparative methods to be effective. I would
wager that many of IE's ancestors were wiped out at the end of the
last ice-age due to the sudden change in migration patterns etc. Who
can tell for sure who lived where, and what languages were spoken in
what regions?
