In order to SURVIVE, would I think be difficult to identify. Vocabulary
would also depend upon the level of technology. One of my newly adopted
hobbies is flintknapping (making stone tools, weapons) and it has a
large and specialized vocabulary. So too does archery, clothmaking,
tents, hide preparation, cooking, and so on. Also, hunter gatherers
tend to have very extensive vocabularies concerning the natural world
around them are able to identify many more plants and animals than
the average modern city dweller.
Also to be considered are cultural needs, religious, military, kinship
and so on.
