And invoking nanotech and so on to make deserts and mountains livable
won't help. There is six acres of dry land for each person now living.
How large a territory does a hunter supporting a family need?
There is only one animal on Earth abundant enough to allow hunting to
be our main source of protein (cf. Swift). That solution should speed
up the transition quite a lot too.
